A barrel acquired at the auction of the Hospices must always be "élevée" (or raised) by a local winemaker for 12 to 24 months.
Nicolas Potel already collaborated with WineFunding for Domaine Bellene, he naturally wanted to turn to our community of WineFunders for this exciting project.
A winemaker, a winery, a trading house
Nicolas Potel is one of the iconic winemakers in Burgundy.
A connoisseur of the terroirs of Burgundy and well connected with their owners, he created the Domaine de Bellene in 2005 by bringing together wine lovers who wished to invest in properties that he manages and operates.
In 2008, he founded the Maison Roche de Bellene, a trading house in Beaune, in order to offer its customers a superior terroir diversity that the Domaine itself can cultivate. Today, Maison Roche de Bellene has a full range with sixty Grands Crus, Premiers Crus and Villages wines of different vintages and is internationally renowned.
Maturation according to Maison Roche de Bellene
Great care will be provided for the maturation in oak barrel, aka "élevage", of the Beaune 1er Cru wines selected by the winemaker, while respecting the chosen terroir.
Your barrel will be stored in very old cellars of the Maison Roche de Bellene with optimal conditions for developping the wine. Bottling will be carried out according to the lunar and biodynamic calendars.

92/2027+
A more deeply pitched and notably ripe yet fresh nose combines notes of cassis, plum liqueur and a wide range of pretty floral elements. There is fine volume to the mouth coating, velvety and impressively complex flavors that possess a highly seductively palate impression, all wrapped in a beautiful long finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This is a lovely if decidedly firm effort and like several of the best wines in the range, this will not be a good candidate for early consumption.
