MARIELLE MICHOT
THE FIFTH GENERATION OF A WINEGROWING FAMILY
For generations, the Michot family has been producing wine in the heart of the Pouilly Fumé appellation, in the Loire region.
Our history
Coming from a family of winemakers, I worked for several wineries around the Pouilly-Fumé appellation, as well as on the family estate, before setting up on my own in 2014. In 2021, I took over the estate from my father, Claude Michot. My brother Benoît, along with 2 other people, work with me in the vineyard and cellar.
Our estate
The estate has 14 hectares of vines, 4 of which have been certified organic since 2023, with the remainder to follow in 2026. We use Sauvignon Blanc for our Pouilly-Fumé cuvées and the rarer Chasselas for our Pouilly-sur-Loire cuvée.
We are committed to sustainable viticulture.
Our wines
We produce cuvées in Pouilly-Fumé, Pouilly-Sur-Loire and Vin de France. After fermentation, the wines are aged on fine lees with regular stirring of the lees. Our cuvées M and Minérale are served at Michelin-starred restaurants. Investing in a harvesting bucket will enable us to further improve the quality of the harvest.

A GLOBAL PROJECT FOR THIS FAMILY WINE ESTATE
CONTINUE THE STORY BY MODERNIZING THE TOOLS
When I took over the family estate in 2021, I wanted to modernize it, as I had done for my own estate. I wanted to perpetuate the work undertaken by my father, Claude Michot, by giving myself the means to do more for the environment and the quality of our wines.
In July 2024, we will inaugurate our brand-new winery, designed to help us save water, make winemaking easier and be even more precise in the elaboration of our wines.
PRESERVE THE QUALITY OF THE HARVEST AND OUR WATER RESOURCES
For now, we have two small trailers into which we put the harvest before transporting it to the winery, and we are obliged to bring the crop in quickly to avoid damaging it. In fact, these trailers do not allow us to inert the harvest, i.e. to replace the atmosphere under air with an inert atmosphere, meaning devoid of oxygen (O2). Inerting protects the grapes from oxidation.
The STHIK FBP 50HL trailer we're looking to buy has the capacity to inert the harvest in a single container, so we can preserve grape quality during transport, without having to hurry. And since it's designed to be easier to clean, we'll be saving water, which is part of our overall project to preserve our water resources at the estate.
